Blog Statistics Update March – April 2014

I actually stuck to my decision from last month to reduce my posting schedule even though it’s been really hard.  In the last four weeks I’ve written six articles and done one roundup, when it used to be twelve and four.  I miss writing as much as I used to and I definitely miss the greater volume of interactions with my commenters.  But it’s actually really good that I made the decision to post less frequently when I did because some things have changed and I really need to devote more time to work.  More details about that coming soon!

Even though I reduced my posting schedule, traffic was up last month.  Not due to my posting schedule reduction, certainly – I saw a similar spike in traffic last year leading up to April 15.  It will probably take a couple more months before I’m able to see if the new posting schedule has an effect on traffic..

Nice stats there. Your tax stuff had a lot of traction. I’m so interested to seeing what your new site, and busyness at work is about (I’m nosey, haha).

I’ll admit I miss your more regular posting, but I don’t think I could have run a successful blog while in a relationship with two people wrapping up and defending. But I do feel like you’re the closest to me in life stage that I know in the PF blogging community, so I am definitely drawn to that.

Yeah, I’m actually surprised I kept up the posting schedule and all the associated networking for so long. I think I was being too rigid. But blogging is really fun for me! But now it’s time to GRADUATE. The site Kyle and I were working on this spring sort of got launched and then aborted, and we might or might not get it relaunched soon. The other site I want to create definitely will have to wait until after I defend.

I’m planning on writing about our recent life/career developments for next week, but I think I need some more info from my advisor first that I might not get until Monday.

Really? I feel like there are a lot of DINKs around the PF blogosphere, that I read anyway. Maybe not so much with the end of PhD/start of real working life aspect thrown in. 🙂 Yeah, not too many science PhDs, actually.

  2. Impressive work, particularly in the growth of your views and subscribers. An almost 15% growth in your page views is awesome. As a smaller financial blogger have any good advice for us?

Don’t base your self-worth on the numbers. 🙂 I’d say networking is most impactful – developing relationships with other bloggers and guest posting. And write useful articles.

  3. It is really hard to say you want to reduce your posting schedule and then actually follow through. So much of who you are wants to continue because it feels like you are missing out. Kudos for sticking to your plan.

I think it’s going to be this way through the summer and then I should be able to increase again. I’m looking forward to it!

  4. It’s good to know that even though you reduced your posting schedule, traffic was still high. I’m also excited with the launching of your new website!

  6. Blogging is pretty addictive, so it’s hard to “cut back” sometimes. That being said, I’ve been trying to focus more on my career and my family since the career pays the bills and family, well, is family and with the recent passing of my uncle I’m really aware of how precious our time with each other is.
