Business Goal Tracking for Week 11 of 2022
In March 2022, I set three overall monthly goals and four weekly habits to help me meet my revenue and workshop enrollment goals for 2022. This is my accountability report for how I did against these goals between 3/12/2022 and 3/18/2022.
Monthly and Weekly Goals
March Monthly Goals
- Publish the 2022 version of my estimated tax workshop
- Create sales page and bonus for rising graduate students webinar
- Add general and CA state tax info to annual tax return workshop
March Weekly Goals
- Stay on top of all communications with university clients, including creating workshop copies and financials
- Write and schedule promotional emails and Tweets for tax workshops
- Devote two hours to professional development
- Recite affirmations daily
Week Overall
This week was normal in the sense that all family members were at home and we had childcare all week. So that was great! The week got a bit busy toward the end. I typically like to wrap up these to-dos on Friday afternoon or Saturday morning, but that didn’t happen this week until Sunday evening. The work I had to do kind of accelerated toward the end of the week. Ah well, at least I got caught up!
One of the highlights of my week was catching up with one of my colleagues in this online-business-serving-academics space. I’m going to do some work for her this summer, and it should be a nice revenue boost for my year!
Another great thing that I got done that didn’t make this list was to submit a proposal to speak at a conference that I plan to attend this summer. I procrastinated way too much on writing it, but when I finally got to it, I had such a good time writing it. I really hope it gets accepted because the talk can (will) be FANTASTIC.
Monthly Goal 1: Publish the 2022 version of my estimated tax workshop
I finished recording the first draft of all the videos in this workshop (there are a LOT!) and created a new FAQ document. In the upcoming week, I’ll review the videos and upload any editing requests to my editor. I hope to be done with this by the end of the week.
Monthly Goal 2: Create lead magnet and sales page for the rising grad student webinar
I’m holding off on working on this goal until I finish my estimated tax workshop.
Monthly Goal 3: Add general and CA state tax info to annual tax return workshop
I’m holding off on working on this goal until I finish my estimated tax workshop. I may not get to it at all this tax season…
Weekly Goal 1: Stay on top of all communications with university clients, including creating workshop copies and financials
I certainly stayed on top of creating workshops and such, but I fell a bit behind some of the financial conversations until my Sunday catch-up.
Weekly Goal 2: Write and schedule promotional emails and Tweets for tax workshops
I got back to pre-scheduling tax Tweets, so that was positive. However, I really dropped the ball on writing and scheduling promotional emails in advance of my 3/20 live Q&A call. I got it done sort of halfway, but I should have worked on it way in advance. I also had to send 1,000+ emails NOT through my mailing list software to workshop participants, which was a PITA… I need either better systems or another virtual assistant!
Weekly Goal 3: Devote two hours to professional development
I didn’t do any professional development this week, whoops!
Weekly Goal 4: Recite affirmations daily
I didn’t expand my affirmations, but I did recite them every weekday. I’m not sure if they’re really helping yet, but I’ll keep at it.
Goal Tracking
Annual Revenue to Date (as a percent of “Best” revenue goal):
- Advertising — 0.77%
- Community membership + tax workshop sales (individual) — 2.24%
- Public speaking — 3.78%
- Tax workshop (institutional sales) — 0.17% <- new revenue category alert!
- Sum — 6.96%
I finally received my first payment from an institutional client who bought my tax workshops! I was my smallest invoice sent so far, which is probably why it was paid so quickly.
Cumulative Workshop Enrollment to Date (5,000 is “Best” goal): 1,218
