Business Goal Tracking for Week 3 of 2022

In January 2022, I’ve set three overall monthly goals and three weekly habits to help me meet my revenue and workshop enrollment goals for 2022. This is my accountability report for how I did against these goals between 1/15/2022 and 1/21/2022.

Monthly Goals:

  1. Pitch all potential university clients my speaking services and/or tax workshops
  2. Publish my annual tax return workshop
  3. Update all my read magnets and lead magnets for tax season 2021

Weekly Habits:

  1. Review all communications with university clients and respond as necessary
  2. Send invoices and check on payments as necessary
  3. Write and schedule promotional email(s) and Tweets

Week Overall

Our preschooler went back to school this week, but only for the morning session, which is 3 hours long. We have her enrolled full-time care, but don’t want her eating lunch and napping sans mask in her classroom during the omicron surge. So that means I did have a dedicated three hours per weekday for work, plus whatever I could fit it while the girls were asleep or watching TV. This additional care definitely helped, and I did get a lot done in those dedicated hours. Still, I ended the week working on Friday evening to clear a few of these goals just before the deadline.

Monthly Goal 1: Pitch all potential university clients my speaking services and/or tax workshops

I started the week by eating the frog and finished reaching out to all of my university clients with whom I was in conversation about an event in 2021-2022. I also pitched my tax workshop to all of my previous bulk clients. However, the rest of the week was occupied with keeping up with incoming communications.

The last group I need to touch base with next week are my speaking clients from recent years, including any from last fall that might be interested in providing the tax workshop.

Monthly Goal 2: Publish my annual tax return workshop

As I announced in week 1, I published How to Complete Your Grad Student Tax Return (and Understand It, Too!) on 1/3/2022.

Monthly Goal 3: Update all my read magnets and lead magnets for tax season 2021

I didn’t work on this goal this week. I have a list of three articles that I need to update for 2021, and I really don’t think it will take long to do once I sit down to do it! This needs to happen next week.

Weekly Goal 1: Review all communications with university clients and respond as necessary

I’m definitely staying more on top of my email thanks to this goal. I’m in a phase now of creating versions of my annual tax return workshop for university clients, which is a process that takes just a few minutes but requires concentration to do properly so I need to make intentional space for it. I’ve been trying to turn these requests around ASAP. As I mentioned above, I did a sweep of my email on Friday evening to make sure I hadn’t skipped any email from university clients that required responses.

Weekly Goal 2: Send invoices and check on payments as necessary

The only thing that crossed my desk this week was to send a W-9 to a new client. Again, I neglected to do this for a few days until the Friday deadline reminded me—thank goodness!

Weekly Goal 3: Write and schedule promotional email(s) and Tweets

I wrote and scheduled two promotional emails to my list regarding upcoming deadlines/events for my tax workshops. I don’t have any of these types of upcoming events/deadlines so I can give my list a break this coming week.

I’m in a flow right now of writing Tweets as I’m inspired to do so (one or more) and just scheduling them for sometime in the future. So I did have this whole week covered from early on, and I’m up to halfway through this coming week already as well.
