Business Goal Tracking for Week 4 of 2022

In January 2022, I’ve set three overall monthly goals and three weekly habits to help me meet my revenue and workshop enrollment goals for 2022. This is my accountability report for how I did against these goals between 1/22/2022 and 1/28/2022.

Monthly Goals:

  1. Pitch all potential university clients my speaking services and/or tax workshops
  2. Publish my annual tax return workshop
  3. Update all my read magnets and lead magnets for tax season 2021

Weekly Habits:

  1. Review all communications with university clients and respond as necessary
  2. Send invoices and check on payments as necessary
  3. Write and schedule promotional email(s) and Tweets

Week Overall

So this was a hot mess of a week. DPR2’s preschool closed due to a COVID+ staff member and she started quarantine. Thankfully, DPR1 continued to go to school, but having DPR2 home was a big disruption. So rather than accomplishing all my goals, it’s more about what could I salvage from this week. Preschool is closed all next week, too. Cross your fingers for us that no one gets sick.

Monthly Goal 1: Pitch all potential university clients my speaking services and/or tax workshops

I moved the ball forward on this, but didn’t quite finish reaching out to my speaking clients from previous years. I need to buckle down on this to finish by the end of the month.

One good thing that happened was that I had a couple of great calls with new out-of-the-blue clients!

Monthly Goal 2: Publish my annual tax return workshop

As I announced in week 1, I published How to Complete Your Grad Student Tax Return (and Understand It, Too!) on 1/3/2022.

Monthly Goal 3: Update all my read magnets and lead magnets for tax season 2021

This goal was shoved to the back seat this week. I did read through one of the remaining three articles that needed my attention and did some spot-updates for 2021, but it really needs a full rewrite to be coherent. (Too many spot-updates over the years!) This is still an important goal to finish by the end of the month, though, because people are searching for the content.

Weekly Goal 1: Review all communications with university clients and respond as necessary

I’m happy to say I stayed very well on top of this goal aside from two quick replies that I should have sent with a Friday sweep of my inbox that didn’t happen. I’ll do them today!

Weekly Goal 2: Send invoices and check on payments as necessary

I stayed on top of this, submitting Form W-9s as requested. No new invoices to send. One payment from 2021 is still outstanding. I’ll give it two more weeks before pinging my host again.

Weekly Goal 3: Write and schedule promotional email(s) and Tweets

I didn’t have to send any promotional emails this week. I did write and schedule Tweets as they came to me, so not only did I get 7 Tweets out this week, but I scheduled many for the future.
