Business Goal Tracking for Week 10 of 2022

In March 2022, I set three overall monthly goals and four weekly habits to help me meet my revenue and workshop enrollment goals for 2022. This is my accountability report for how I did against these goals between 3/5/2022 and 3/11/2022.

Monthly and Weekly Goals

March Monthly Goals

  1. Publish the 2022 version of my estimated tax workshop
  2. Create sales page and bonus for rising graduate students webinar
  3. Add general and CA state tax info to annual tax return workshop

March Weekly Goals

  1. Stay on top of all communications with university clients, including creating workshop copies and financials
  2. Write and schedule promotional emails and Tweets for tax workshops
  3. Devote two hours to professional development
  4. Recite affirmations daily

Week Overall

I missed even reporting on last week’s goals so that tells you how that week went! My husband was actually out of town again for most of the last two weeks, and my sister flew in to help with the kids for a little over a week. I did get a lot of work done, but my mind was a bit more scattered than normal.

I have been tracking my task list in a spreadsheet for a few years, but as I’ve been working more with virtual assistants I set up an Asana account for the projects we pass back and forth. This week, I decided to move my recurring tasks over to my own personal boards on Asana while keeping my one-off tasks and projects in my spreadsheet. So far I’m liking this but we’ll see if I can keep up with two systems.

Monthly Goal 1: Publish the 2022 version of my estimated tax workshop

I started on this goal this week. I thought it would be a breeze but it turns out that all the pandemic-related tax changes are hard to find info on, specifically in what ways the 2022 benefits will be similar or not to the 2020 benefits. There’s plenty of news coverage on the Build Back Better Bill proposals, not so much on how 2022 will shape up without that passing. Anyway, I made a strong start on this and expect to finish the first draft next week.

Monthly Goal 2: Create lead magnet and sales page for the rising grad student webinar

I delivered the free admissions season webinar for my new series, Set Yourself Up for Financial Success in Graduate School this week, so now it’s time to turn my attention to promoting the next installment.

Monthly Goal 3: Add general and CA state tax info to annual tax return workshop

I just decided on this goal this week, but it will have to wait until after I finish the estimated tax workshop.

Weekly Goal 1: Stay on top of all communications with university clients, including creating workshop copies and financials

I’ve found that Saturday morning is better than Friday afternoon/evening for my email inbox sweep, and I did that successfully this week. I’ve sent out a bunch of invoices for my tax workshop to my university clients in the past two weeks, so hopefully those checks/deposits will come in soon.

Weekly Goal 2: Write and schedule promotional emails and Tweets for tax workshops

I wasn’t on top of my tax Tweets in the previous week, so I got back to diligent scheduling this week. I didn’t have any promotional emails that I needed to send for the workshops.

Weekly Goal 3: Devote two hours to professional development

I did two hours of professional development this week! I spent an hour going through a free video course on digital products from The Academic Society (more on that in an upcoming podcast interview!) and attended Money Church through We Should All Be Millionaires.

Weekly Goal 4: Recite affirmations daily

I updated my business-related affirmations last month, but I wasn’t on top of reciting them until this week. My yearly revenue goal is part of one of the affirmations. Now that I’m in the habit of saying them, I think I’ll expand them slightly.

Goal Tracking

Annual Revenue to Date (as a percent of “Best” revenue goal):

  • Advertising — 0.77%
  • Community membership + tax workshop sales (individual) — 1.97%
  • Public speaking — 3.78%
  • Sum — 6.52%

Cumulative Workshop Enrollment to Date (5,000 is “Best” goal): 1,066
